Tifton research and extension faculty work with other UGA experiment stations, research farms and interdisciplinary centers and with state, federal and private agencies.

Successes include:

  • Blueberry farming from 800 acres in the 1970s to 5,000 acres in 2000, now producing more than 15 million pounds annually with a $13 million economic impact.

  • Carrot farming from 387 acres in 1997 to 900 acres in 2000.

  • Pecan farming economic impact from $50 million in 1970 to $120 million in 2001.

Research collaborations with USDA include:

  • forage and turfgrasses

  • insect biology and population management

  • nematodes, weeds and crops

  • watershed research laboratory
